Finding Beauty Within (And Not From A Bottle)
God
All-powerful, Perfect
Loving, Amazing, Knowing
Sovereign Creator - Evil, Dark
Consuming, Obscuring, Infecting
Selfish, Painful
SIN.
This month’s poetic license featured the poetic form, Diamante. A form which begins with a subject, and ends with it opposite, and when centered looks like a diamond. (For more specific instructions see here.) My immediate thought was God and Sin. Nothing could be more opposite. But since we have a theme and this month’s theme is emotions or the great outdoors.. you can see that I’m not exactly following the rules here. So consider that one a freebie. If you want a rule-abiding, theme-following poem, you’ll have to read this one:
Breezes
Whispery Caress
Fleeting, Brushing, Skin-Kissing
Flowing Gently. Hushed. Quiet.
Stopping, Ceasing, Halting
Still.
Imagine sitting outside on your porch swing listening to the birds sing, or on a mountain side admiring the beauty of the valley below - in all this seeing the evidence of God everywhere you look, His amazing creation that bears witness to his splendor.
God is good.

A high dollar mattress, with high thread count sheets
Room service, a hot shower, a bowl full of sweets
No yelling, no fighting, no pulling on my shirt
This slice of peace and quiet, sounds like “heaven on earth.”
Friday’s 40-Or-Less Photo Challenge (my first poem was 75!!) is hosted by Robin.
It’s time for Pensieve’s Poetic License. I intended to write poetry about faith and God as much as possible, and I suppose I still could have, but the rules for the clarihew made that a little more difficult, so I thought I’d write about two of the biggest blessings God has given me. The theme is May, which obviously houses the holiday of Mother’s Day. On that note…
My momma’s nickname is Gran’ Bat.
I know you’re a little shocked to hear that.
But she’s cuckoo for bats and she didn’t like granny,
And my mother-in-law already claimed Nannie.
Here’s another. May is also Hamburger Month. No kidding? Nobody love hamburgers more than my hubby.
Have you met my husband named James?
He’s really quite picky ’bout names.
Don’t call him Jamie, or Jimmy or Jim.
The odds of him answering are quite very slim.
To top it all off.. I’ll be spending Memorial Day with both of them.
Stop by Robin’s for more poetry!
Haiku #1
Spring forth from earth and dew
Young buds lift your faces to
God and Heaven
Robin’s challenge this month is a Haiku about spring. Spring! Well, that’s easy enough, right? And surely I can pull off a Haiku.. I used to write tons of poetry in high school. Ahhh, but will it be any good? Therein lies the real challenge.
Haiku #2
Rebirth of flora,
Fauna too, New birth of life,
Of love, and of hope.
Haiku #3
Dead brown to living
Green with pink, yellow, red, and
Purple - God’s canvass.

Finding beauty not in outward adornment, but rather seeking the beauty of the inner self - the unfading and imperishable beauty of a quiet and gentle spirit, a spirit completely in love with Christ. Finding beauty not in acceptance and praise from the world, but instead as a child of the King. Finding beauty not in beautiful things, but discovering beauty in our beautiful God. Finding beauty not in self, but in God's creation and in others. This sort of beauty will never fade, never grow old, never wrinkle and gray. Quite the opposite, this beauty will grow with each passing day, as we grow in our walk with Him.
