Serpentine

Author: Amber  //  Category: Poetry

These slithery slinks, cursed

Without legs, hugging the contours of her arm

Those fearsome fangs, hidden

Do they in secret intend her harm?

Cold-blooded creatures, symbols

Of man’s famous Eden fall

Now feared, loathed, stigmatized

Able to captivate, mesmerize, enthrall.

Ah, Amber, you went back to the garden, too. Your last line hit home the most, though…I’m all those things when it comes to snakes IN CAPTIVITY. If I happen upon one in the woods? I’M TOTALLY FREAKED OUT!!!

Love the title of your poem, and just for you, I matched the colors of the snakes to your blog ;).

(thanks for a GREAT entry…I can count on you for consistency :).)

Amber, this was good! I think the snakes took all of us back to the garden. We just can’t help it, can we? I started to purposely think of something different, but, I couldn’t pull away from where the thoughts were taking me, so I went with what I submitted. Oh well…it at least shows that we remember the things we read in the Word, and we can relate real life situations (or pictures in this case) to them.

I love this last line: “Able to captivate, mesmerize, enthrall.” This is exactly what they do.

Have a great rest of the evening.
